​Special Bonanza Night Author Visit: Meet Cindy Gelormini at 
5:30 p.m.

Join us for a special author visit at 5:30 p.m. with local New Providence author, Cindy Gelormini! Cindy Gelormini is the author of Robbie's World and His Spectrum of Adventures,a trilogy of children's books with 12 chapters about a little penguin with Autism. Cindy Gelormini and her book were recently featured on the Today Show with Hoda and Jenna in recognition of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2!

Session 1 - 6:00 p.m.


​A Favorite Fireside Story and Smore Making with Mrs. Drexinger - All Grades
Join Mrs. Drexinger as she reads one of her favorite stories and makes one of her favorite campfire snacks, Smores! Gather your favorite Smore making treats and get ready to read and make Smores with Mrs. Drexinger.
Required Materials: Bring your favorite Smore ingredients!

Read and Laugh at the Silly Rhymes of Dr. Seuss: Seuss On the Loose - All Grades
Join Mrs. Hermann as she reads Dr. Seuss books and have fun rhyming like Dr. Suess!
Required Materials: NONE

Guess that Sound! - All Grades
Get ready to try to Guess that Sound! Ms. Spoerl will read a story with some fun onomatopoeia words in it! We will then play several rounds of “Guess that Sound.” Families will write down what they think they hear and find out if they’ve guessed correctly! We will have some fun trying to write the sounds in phonetic form too!

Required Materials: Several pieces of lined paper and several pieces of plain white paper and a pencil, pen, and/or marker. A clipboard or table top will be helpful too.

I Wanna Iguana Story & Craft - All Grades
Join Ms. Freeman as she reads the book I Wanna Iguana with Midori, her pet iguana. Then, color and cut out your own iguana craft. There will also be a chance from some iguana Q &A!

Required Materials: Iguana coloring page (see school flyer for link) and coloring supplies (crayons, markers, color pencils), scissors, tape or glue stick.

Disney Karaoke Sing-Along - All Grades
Join Mrs. Denike for some memorable family karaoke! Families will choose from a list of Disney classic songs and enjoy singing together!

Required Materials: NONE

Ish Crumpled Paper Craft - All Grades
Join Mrs. Heaslip and Ms. DeKunchak for a read aloud of the story Ish by Peter Reynolds, and then complete a crumpled paper craft with watercolors. The completed paper craft can then be used for stationery, cut-outs and other crafts!

Required Materials: White paper, Water colors, Paint brush, Cup of water.

Learn How To Be Mindful of Our Thoughts & Feelings - All Grades
Join Mrs. Evans Roglieri as she reads the story Thank You Mind: Understanding My Big Feelings On Tricky Days by Jennifer Cohen Harper. Then, draw and create your own gratitude board!

Required materials: Blank white piece of paper, Crayons, Markers, and Pencil. Optional materials are old magazines, scissors, and glue.

Dance, Dance! - All Grades
Listen to the story Fancy Nancy:Budding Ballerina & then have a dance party & play freeze dance to Pharrell Williams “Happy”!

Required Materials: Dress-up is encouraged!

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax - Earth Day Inspired Craft and Story - All Grades
Listen to Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax and make a paper bowl mushroom craft from things around the house.

Required Materials: (See school flyer for link to see the craft!) You will need: Paper bowl, Toilet paper roll, scissors, glue, Red paint/marker/crayon, green felt/paint/marker, white paint/paper scraps.

Piggy & Elephant Make a Bookmark - All Grades
Join in for a fun Elephant and Piggie read aloud and make a bookmark after story time!

Required Materials: Scissors, glue, or tape, colored or white paper, construction paper.

Ready, Set, Read & Illustrate with Dav Pilkey! - All Grades
Join Mrs. Demich for a special author and illustrator spotlight. Learn about Dav Pilkey, listen to his work, and illustrate some of Pilkey’s book characters with Dav Pilkey himself!

Required Materials: Paper and pencil for drawing.

Learning Math Skills with M&M’s - KINDERGARTEN ONLY
Bring your own M&Ms and join Mrs. Testa as you practice math skills while listening to the M&M Counting Book. Students will enjoy eating M&Ms while doing some math.
Required Materials: A package of M&Ms

Fold Me a Poem Book & Origami Box Craft - 5th & 6th Grade Only
Join Ms. Drewes and decorate a piece of origami paper while listening to the story. Then, participants will learn how to fold an origami box. (It would be helpful if participants already have a square piece of paper, but if not Mrs. Drewes will show how to make one.)
Required Materials: Please have 2 or 3 pieces of paper, preferably cut into a perfect square. If you don’t know how to do that, 8.5” x 11” printer paper is fine. I will show you how to make a perfect square. You will also need scissors, markers, crayons, or colored pencils.

Build a Cardboard Tube Seedling Pot - 5th & 6th Grade Only
The Lorax needs our help sharing a very important message! Join Mrs. Post and Ms. Bandeira in celebrating Earth Day by building a pot out of recycled toilet paper tubes and planting some seeds together. 
​Required Materials: Print, color, and cut a Lorax mustache (see school flyer for link) ahead of time for a fun group picture! And, you will also need: toilet paper roll, scissors, ruler, potting soil, seeds (your choice!), spray bottle with water.


Session 2 - 6:45 p.m.

Build a Bird Feeder inspired by Adam Rubin’s Those Darn Squirrels! - All Grades
The Kaufmann family discovered a new interest in birds during the pandemic. We hung bird feeders, watched the birds eating, and became fascinated with how the squirrels behaved around the bird feeders. Join Mrs. Kaufmann and her kids as they read their new favorite book, Those Darn Squirrels! and learn how to make 2 simple bird feeders.

Required Materials: bird seed, plate, scissors, toilet paper roll (or paper towel roll or even pine cone is fine), thick string, peanut butter (or honey), orange cut in half (optional), spoon

Matisse’s Garden by Samantha Friedman & Matisse Style Paper Cut-Out Garden Art - All Grades
Join Mrs. Hoogerhyde as she reads aloud the story Matisse’s Garden and creates a Matisse style garden with cut paper shapes!
Required Materials: 1 white paper, several pieces of different colored paper, scissors, glue stick.
*Markers or crayons optional.


Let’s Get Messy!!!: Dr. Seuss’ Bartholomew and the Oobleck Story and Oobleck Making - All Grades
Participants will make their own Oobleck with household items!
Required Materials: (see school flyer for link to how-to video) 1⁄2 cup cornstarch, 1⁄4 cup water

Build an Egg Carton Seed Planter -

Kindergarten through 4th Grade Grade Only
