Room parents are the primary communication between teachers and the families of the students in each homeroom. Room parents welcome the families at Back-to-School night, help teachers coordinate the signups for Mystery Readers (in applicable grades), parent-teacher conferences and solicit donations from parents for the teachers’ supply wish list at the beginning of the year. Throughout the year, class parents work with teachers to coordinate class celebrations like the Halloween Party, a Holiday Party, Valentine’s Day and end-of-year celebrations. We need 2 parent volunteers for each class in Salt Brook (only 2 for the entire 6th grade).
The room parent assignments are made in early September after the class lists are finalized and volunteers can be matched up with their child’s class. Room parents will be notified by e-mail the first week of school.
